We decided to start a
Jesse tree with the kids, since they finally seem old enough to understand the readings (at least Jack does), and we want to emphasize Advent as the preparation for Christ that it is. I made these ornaments out of felt (the ornament ideas and nightly readings come from
here).
We've been dong several readings at dinnertime during Advent- some as a part of the Jesse tree. And every day now, Jack asks to do a reading- even at lunchtime. I'm glad that he seems so interested in them- and the stories that go along with the ornaments.
We've also been spending a lot of time at the dining room table cutting, gluing, coloring, play-dohing, etc.
Here's their little growing display in the dining room.
I helped them make the hand part of the wreath- with all three of their little hands repeated, but they did most of the decorating and are so proud of it.
Jack loves twisting candy canes out of pipe-cleaners and hanging them here.
Abbie-Gail's "pingin" that she made (with a little help) at PPG's holiday kids activities last weekend.

Oh my, that hand wreath is DEAR! They should be proud of it! We need to get over there soon to check out the works in person, and hopefully get autographs from the artists if they're cool with that.
