<>br /> Somewhere toward the end of Tennessee, Toby started throwing up. We got to Mammoth Cave and decided that Mike would stay in the van with the two little people (and Iris because she decided it would be more fun to play with her sister than go spelunking), and I would take Jack and Abigail to the cave. As soon as we got in there, a man dressed in reenactment clothing came up to us and asked what we were looking for. "Cave tours?" "Tomorrow. Come back tomorrow." They were all booked for the rest of the day. Very sad. But they had a neat museum where we spent some time learning about the surrounding world's longest cave. They are discovering more passages all the time, and they have now discovered 405 miles total, though it is a relatively shallow cave system- very fascinating. Jack was disappointed not to be able to get down into the cave, but I'm sure he will someday.
The thought of spending another night in a hotel, and with a throwing up toddler- did not sound appealing to us, so we decided to try to push through for the next 8+ hours, despite it already being late in the afternoon and still needing to stop for dinner. Fast forward... We got home a little after 2am- everyone so thankful to crash back in our own beds. Phew... what a fun and full- and exhausting- trip!
We are blessed!
