Some friends are just in your life for a season or while in close proximity. But I feel like our friendship has only grown since we moved from Pittsburgh nearly four years ago. This family is so special to us. What a gift it was to have them visit this past weekend! They joined us for pizza and a short visit on Friday evening and then practically all day on Saturday, including Mass and a dinner outing, and then one last ice cream treat at our house before saying farewell (until we pass through Pittsburgh in November!). The kids relished their time with their friends, as I relished the time catching up with my friend and her sweet husband, who was a great playmate to (and soother of) the little people.
"A friend is more to be longed for than the light; I speak of a genuine one. And wonder not: for it were better for us that the sun should be extinguished, than that we should be deprived of friends; better to live in darkness, than to be without friends." — St. John Chrysostom(The Morning Offering quote in my inbox the day before their visit)
We are blessed!
