house renovation update

They put a new beam in our living room, as it was bearing way too much weight and had started pulling the second floor drywall down (they're also fixing that). Everything is all covered in dust (Almost all of our other furniture was moved out of the house, but we left a few larger things in this room). Fortuntealy, they'll be sending in someone to clean everything before we move in! We finally got over to mow and take care of some other yard work yesterday. Roof trusses are going up this week!

It's exciting to see the progress every weekend. Things are definitely picking up there and we're finally to the fun part of picking out colors and styles of things. I'm meeting with the cabinet guy this week to go over mudroom/laundry room cabinets/storage cubbies/built-ins for the sunroom, pantry, and our master bath, and I'll be meeting with the flooring person soon (all one-on-one meetings while wearing masks).

This week, the electrician will be coming in to replace most of our old wiring, which was a mess, as any professional who came to look at our house in the past told us. We are getting a whole new system put in (Our last one wasn't even big enough to accommodate the house-pre-addition- we were often blowing fuses). AND, we are getting central air installed throughout our entire house- old and new, which will be so nice. It is a relief to have all of these other issues taken care of at the same time. All of us agree that it will be SO NICE to finally move back there when it is finished. I"m grateful to be in this rental while the work is being done, but we've been missing that place a lot. In other "other house" news, Miss Scarlett has turned Broody. We haven't been able to get eggs from our hens for a while, as she's always sitting on them. Maybe we'll have chicks (that we don't have to take care of!) this year after all... That would be fun. Jack gave me this wild tulip he found in the woods.
