Will and Ashley's wedding weekend

We left first thing last Thursday morning for our jaunt to Western Michigan for Uncle Will and Ashley's wedding (and all events surrounding) and got home shortly before 10 on Sunday night. The kids were troopers considering how late we got them to bed every night- and their complete lack of naps. And I'm relieved to be back in close proximity to the Midwives, as I had several long bouts of contractions- 1 1/2-2 minutes apart-- harmless, I'm sure, but worrisome, nonetheless.

We were surprised to find that our hotel room was one of two with a balcony overlooking the fantastic indoor pool, which the kids made use of on Friday morning. And they've been so pleased by their ring-bearer and flower girl gifts, which Will and Ashley brought to our room on Friday night after the rehearsal dinner-- two amazing garage-sale finds: a Melissa and Doug wooden castle (with furniture) for Abigail and a huge set of Dragon/castle Mega-Blocks (like Legos) for Jack!

Abigail seemed to have her job of tossing handfuls of petals down at the rehearsal on Friday, but I think the church-full of people got the best of her on Saturday. She and Jack were supposed to walk side-by-side down the isle doing their respective duties. Abigail took off with her thoughts on one thing- getting down the isle to Dad. And Jack seemed to chase after her, trying to reach into her little basket of petals to help her out. It was a funny sight. And cute.

Sharon told me afterward-- Jack was so affected by the wedding experience and her dress (which he kept commenting on), that he said he wanted to marry her :) He was also obsessed with clinking his glass... and anything else that gave off a nice sound... along with the rest, who seemed to be quite out of control in that area, though I'm sure he had no idea what it was about.

Abigail was clearly ready to pass out for the duration of the reception. It had already been a long day for her.

Here and here are some more albums from our weekend.  All in all, we had a wonderful, albeit short, time with family and friends and were glad to be able to be a part of such a lovely celebration. And we wish Will and Ashley many blessings in their marriage.
